I am back in Halifax, which means I will update this over the next few days. Whaaaaaaattttaaaa long trip. It didn’t go exactly as planned due to some minor issues with my car, but it was still fun as hell. :)

Hostel life
A kid staying my room from Manchester, feeling estranged from his travel companions: as if he were too mature for their company. All he wants to do is read and write, not party, drink or go out to strip clubs like his friends. I guess I see a bit of myself in that kid. I remember being 18 and wanting to know everything about the world, wanting to read every book ever written (still do!), wanting...

First impressions:
I have only spent a very short while here, which is all it took to know that I would like it. Unlike Prague, it is apparent that this is not solely marketed for tourists. You can tell by walking down the street that there are actually people who live here.

Hostel life
Two guys from Izmir staying in my room. They arrived, complaining of hunger, but did not have the proper currency to buy food so late at night. I gave them each some soup and stayed up chatting with them until late. In two weeks, they had traveled in about 15 places and, although tired, were so concerned about finishing the itinerary. I mean, all they can really say is that they made it to all...

7 hours on a train? you don't say...
The train ride was relaxing: the Czech countryside passing by on the right and the left, through the windows. Two Australians enter the cabin, quite confused and unaware of train procedures, etiquette and methods of placing their bags. Obviously struggling, a man offers his counsel. ‘English?’ but no one will admit to knowing a single word except myself. They exit the train in Breclav.  As soon as...

Thoughts on a train
We stopped at Dresden HBF. From the car window, across the platform, I could see: “Nürnberg Ab 11:01” . I had this urge to hop off the train and run across the tracks to catch that train to the closest familiar face I knew. Probably a bad idea.  As a whole, us humans aren’t so different. An Italian family shares the four seat cluster with me: mother, father and teenaged daughter. Apart from the...

Thoughts on a train
I hope for something crazy to happen soon. Not regrettable crazy…. That is the worst kind of crazy. I prefer the ones that are pleasant and safe: for instance, good surprises! Today, a friend embarks on his journey to Japan for a year! So, if you happen to be reading this: Bon voyage et bonne chance! :)  A love of writing: a discovery which I have found out! I stop writing and think to...

Nuremberg: thoughts
I wake up now to the sound of rain pounding on the window. The rain had not ceased during the night, as I was hoping it would have. I wanted one final stroll through town. Nuremberg has to be the most beautiful city I have visited in Germany thus far! I also wanted to get at least one photo of the city, as I had neglected to do so the previous day. But, no such luck. Anyway, I will be glad to...
